At Shah Aesthetics, patients often wonder what to expect before a tattoo removal session. It’s crucial to avoid sun exposure and shave any hair on the tattoo area at least three days prior. While tattoo removal can be uncomfortable, medical-grade numbing cream and nitrous oxide are available to ease the pain. The number of sessions needed varies based on the ink quality and age of the tattoo. Different wavelengths are used to target various ink colors; for instance, the 1064 nm wavelength targets browns and blacks, while the 532 nm wavelength addresses colors like pink, green, and blue.

Well, first off, I wanna make sure you’re avoiding any sun exposure. Also, if I’m treating a tattoo that has some hair on it, please shave at least three days prior to prevent any complications.
Tattoo removal isn’t completely painless, but we do have things in the office like, uh, medical grade numbing cream, or nitrous that can help relieve that pain. A lot of patients ask me how many sessions. I don’t like to give an exact answer because it depends on the quality of the ink and how old the tattoo is. Sometimes different colors are harder to pull compared to a black ink, depending the color of the ink.
We use different wavelengths. Our pico here, we have 10 64 and 5 32. The 10 64 is going to attack the browns and blacking, and the five 30 twos it attack some colors like pink, green, blue.
