Developed by InMode, Morpheus8 uses radiofrequency (RF) technology to distribute energy through micro-needles under the skin to help stimulate collagen production and fat tissue remodeling. This allows for tightening of saggy skin, contouring of the face and body, as well as reduction in wrinkles.
Unlike other treatments, such as laser skin resurfacing which only treats the surface of the skin, Morpheus8 takes a novel bottom-up approach. Micro-needles penetrate the skin and go beneath up to 4mm deep.
RF energy from the Morpheus8 handpiece is distributed as the needles retract, working its way up. Not only does the minor skin abrasions from the needles activate the body’s natural healing response, the RF energy helps improve the collagen’s effectiveness in tightening and reducing the appearance of wrinkles.
Many patients treat their fine lines and wrinkles using laser resurfacing, but an issue does come up. In the past, patients with darker skin tones cannot use treatments like CO2 lasers.
Using the Fitzpatrick Scale, a Fitzpatrick 1-3 is ideal for laser treatments while a Fitzpatrick 5-6 can not. A Fitzpatrick 4 is questionable depending on the ethnicity of the patient.

One of the major advantages of Morpheus8 is its minimal downtime. Patients typically experience some redness and swelling for a few days after the treatment, but these side effects usually subside quickly. Most people return to their normal activities within 1-2 days.
Initial results can often be seen within a few days following treatment, once the initial swelling and redness have subsided. However, the most noticeable results typically appear in the weeks following the procedure as the skin produces new collagen and elastin. Optimal results are usually visible after three sessions, spaced about 4-5 weeks apart.
The results of Morpheus8 can last for a year or longer. The stimulation of collagen and elastin helps to provide ongoing improvement in the skin’s tone and texture. To maintain the results, we recommend regular touch-up sessions.
Morpheus8 is considered safe for all skin types. Some patients might experience temporary redness, swelling, or pinpoint bleeding at the treatment sites. These effects usually disappear within a few days. As with any procedure, there are potential risks, but serious complications are very rare.
