Chicago's premiere facial & body non-surgical aesthetics

The internet has made people very aware of pores.

High-definition cameras, filters, beauty lights, and close-up skincare videos can make normal skin texture feel like a problem. Patients often come in saying they want “poreless skin,” but real skin has pores. It also has texture, movement, oil, tiny bumps, and changes throughout the month.

The goal should not be poreless skin.

The goal should be healthier-looking skin.

Why Pores Look Larger

Pores can look larger for several reasons: oil production, congestion, loss of collagen support, sun damage, genetics, skin thickness, and aging. That means there is no single pore treatment that works for everyone.

A patient whose pores look larger because of congestion may benefit from facials, extractions, or treatments that help clear buildup. A patient whose pores look more visible because of collagen loss may need microneedling, RF microneedling, lasers, or retinoids. A patient with oily skin may need a different approach than someone whose texture is caused by sun damage or acne scarring.

The cause matters.

Do Not Scrub Your Way to Smooth Skin

Many patients trying to shrink pores end up over-exfoliating. They use scrubs, acids, peel pads, masks, and retinoids all at once. Instead of improving the skin, this can damage the barrier, making the skin look irritated, shiny, red, or more textured.

More scrubbing is not the answer.

A better plan may include professional treatments, medical-grade skincare, SPF, hydration, and controlled exfoliation that the skin can actually tolerate.

Real Skin Can Still Look Beautiful

A HydraFacial or DiamondGlow may help with congestion and glow. Chemical peels may help with turnover. RF microneedling can support collagen remodeling in selected patients. Lasers may help with texture, scars, and tone depending on skin type and concern.

The key is matching the treatment to the reason the texture exists.

Skin does not need to be poreless to be beautiful.

It needs to be understood, supported, and treated with the right tools.
